DreamShaper, the digital environment for project-based teaching

DreamShaper helps teachers and students design and manage project-based learning pathways: from defining objectives to collecting evidence, through to competence-based assessment. It is a structured digital environment in which the teacher stays in charge of the pathway and Artificial Intelligence works as a support for project design.

DreamShaper is a software platform marketed by Gruppo Spaggiari Parma S.p.A. for the Italian school market.

THE PROJECT

THE CONTEXT

What the Italian Ministry’s Guidelines ask of schools today

The Italian Ministry’s Guidelines steer schools towards consistent processes, a central role for the teacher, active student participation and competence-based teaching. On the technology side, they call for aware and responsible use of digital tools, with attention to security and data protection.

For the school

Consistency of processes, methodologies and tools; governance and coordination; privacy and data protection; security standards.

For the teacher

A central, supervisory role, with educational autonomy, teaching creativity and freedom of methodological choice, plus practical support for project design.

For students

Active methodologies, so that students take part in the learning process through practical, collaborative, hands-on activities.

For teaching

Interdisciplinary learning, development of transversal skills, documented pathways and competence-based assessment.

THE TEACHER AT THE CENTRE

Artificial Intelligence works alongside the teacher

DreamShaper brings AI into a controlled, traceable environment, where every generated pathway goes through the teacher’s review before it reaches the classroom.

The teacher’s role stays whole

AI works as a support for project design: it assists analysis, prompts methodological reflection, widens the design possibilities and helps with critical review. Pedagogical, methodological and teaching decisions remain with the teacher.

A traceable environment

Activities take place in a structured digital space, with access management and a history of actions.

Governance for the school

Coordination among teachers, departments and class councils, with consistent processes and tools.

Operational simplicity

Design follows a guided procedure: manual steps and preparation time are reduced.

THE METHODOLOGIES

Three ways to get the class working

The platform supports methodologies that put the student at the centre of the learning process, and it helps the teacher apply them, even in organisationally complex schools.

Project Based Learning

Students learn by carrying out concrete, structured projects. They develop autonomy, responsibility and the ability to apply knowledge in real contexts, with interdisciplinary integration and design skills.

Inquiry Based Learning

Learning starts from research, observation and discovery: students ask questions, analyse information and build knowledge through a process of investigation.

Workshop-based teaching

Project work, problem solving and competence-based design: structured, interdisciplinary pathways that bring students directly into the learning process.

THE COMPETENCES

What students train

The pathways aim to develop a broad set of transversal, design and methodological competences, consistent with today’s educational and professional contexts.

Cognitive skills

Creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and design ability.

Operational skills

Operational autonomy, collaboration, research and investigation, active design.

Teaching approach

Experiential and interdisciplinary learning, with a guided build-up of competences.

The student’s role

From consumer of content to active protagonist, within a digital environment geared to design, management and monitoring.

FLESSIBILITÀ

Pathways for an individual student, for a group or for the whole school

Each teacher works with a high level of personalisation, in full respect of teaching autonomy. Pathways are designed and managed at three levels.

Individual student

Personalised pathways, including for students with special educational needs: individual monitoring, collection of evidence, digital products, deadlines and progress management.

Collaborative groups

Project work with role management, collaborative activities, collection of evidence, workflows, deadlines and coordination of activities.

Class and school

Coordination between departments, shared governance, organisational management, centralised monitoring and structured collection of evidence and digital products.

HOW IT WORKS

From the initial prompt to a pathway ready for the class

With the pathway creation software, teachers build Project Based Learning pathways independently, through a sequence of steps supported by Artificial Intelligence. It starts from a short prompt describing the project idea, and the platform guides you step by step to the complete pathway.

1. Initial prompt

The teacher describes the project idea: subject, class, objectives and available time.

2. Guided generation

The platform proposes a structure for the pathway: phases, activities, evidence to collect and assessment criteria.

3. Review and validation

The teacher reviews, adapts and validates the pathway before assigning it to the class.

WHAT YOU CAN BUILD

Tailor-made pathways by field of study, subject and class

Administrators, teacher teams or individual teachers can develop, review and validate the pathways in which students will take part.

Customised PBL pathways

Built around the school’s needs and adapted to the different school levels and fields of study.

Interdisciplinary projects

Projects that cut across several subjects, or activities specific to a single subject.

Vertical pathways and modules

Pathways that follow students over time, and modules focused on a specific objective.

Review and adaptation

The generated structures can be reviewed, validated and adapted, keeping flexibility and personalisation.

THE PATHWAYS

Two ways to get your pathways

Pathways can be commissioned from Spaggiari or created by the school with the creation software. The two options can be combined.

Commissioned pathways

Designed and produced to order by Spaggiari, according to the school’s specific needs, fields of study and objectives. No staff training required.

Pathways created by the school

The school can assign a teacher or a team of teachers, or authorise all teachers, to create their own pathways with the creation software.

ESEMPI

Ready-made pathways, for every school level and field of study

Some examples of pathways available for purchase, for the different fields of study. They can be commissioned and customised, or serve as a starting point for designing new ones around the school’s needs.

Licei

“Artificial Intelligence, ethics and society”, “Environmental sustainability and active citizenship”, “Digital communication and critical thinking”, plus pathways for the classical, science, language, human sciences, economics and social studies, arts, music and dance upper secondary schools.
